A very proud Grace Madigan of Limerick SC with her CYA for Helping

At Swim Ireland, we realise that while personal bests are a great achievement, it's not the only part of being a valued member of a club. This is why the Club Youth Awards (CYA) have been developed to acknowledge swimmers personal development and commitment throughout the year.  CYA concentrates on young people’s involvement with their squad, team and club. It's aimed at identifying and recognising the effort and commitment young people show in other areas connected with being in their club besides performance goals.

There are 4 award categories - Teamwork, Helping, Effort and being a Role Model. Grace Madigan is 11 years old and here she is pictured with her award for helping. She has been with Limerick for two years and being the proud recipient of this award shows that Grace has been a valued asset to her club. Grace would like to thank her coach John Dempsey for all the work he has put in during sessions this year.

Clubs can sign up for this for free. Many clubs have their awards before their AGM or run specific awards night. It's a great way to show swimmers how much they are appreciated and helps strengthen bonds and camaraderie within the club.

To get involved please get in touch with your CCO. Registration for clubs is open from 1st September to 31st December each year. Clubs will then notify Swim Ireland with the number of awards they are giving before the end of the season. Successful athletes will receive the Swim Ireland CYA pin and certificate.
